Memory Home

A new memory palace

Giving memories a place with people with Alzheimer's and dementia

Unique method to improve contact with people with dementia

  • Give memories a place for people with dementia
  • Increase the sense of home in a strange or familiar environment
  • Discover new conversation topics through a shared activity

Every four seconds someone in the world is told that he or she has dementia. Caregivers and family members also suffer particularly as 'shadow victims of the disease'. How can we use memory techniques to strengthen communication with people with dementia and Alzheimer's?

A memory palace is an ancient technique in which you walk along a familiar route in your mind, for example to find your way back or to memorize lists. In this book we use that method to help people with dementia anchor the faces of loved ones. By walking a route past objects in the familiar environment, they are linked to positive memories and experiences. This is how we create access to a new memory palace.

MemoryHome is an accessible and scientifically supported mobile application for your tablet. This book contains a unique code that you can use to start right away with this application. Are you walking along?
